School District Opts for Prosecution Over Education

Frederick County (MD)  Public Schools seeks prosecution of 12 year old boy for his “autistic assault”. When its significantly impaired, ASD pre-teen, reacted poorly during a confrontation by the school’s assistant principal, school officials refused to consider the child’s special needs. Instead, FCPS preferred to arrest, suspend and prosecute its special ed student.  Question: how can FCPS be unaware of the rights and protections afforded to kids with special needs; all of which were ignored in this case?
