Dept. of Education considering changes to rules on student data privacy
Whenever a new client comes to us with a matter involving their child, it is our standard practice to have them sign a release of student records. Knowing what is in those records is often of vital importance. Because of HooverLaw, LLC’s focus on representing youth and young adults at court proceedings and before the school systems of Maryland, we are intimately familiar with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
It recently came to our attention that the U.S. Department of Education may change certain aspects of the rules it created to achieve the aims and goals of the Act. In order that our clientele may also be aware of those changes, we highly recommend that all of our clients view the information contained on the following page and contact us with any questions or concerns.
