Education Law Chair Appointment

The Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland (BAMC), headed by President Mary Ellen Flynn, recently selected Patrick Hoover as the 2007 – 2008 Chair for the newly formed Education Law Section.

At this time, over twenty members have joined the Education Law Section. Many of the new members expressed an interest in developing new networks, sharing experiences, and learning additional strategies on representing clients in school expulsion hearings, IEP meetings, due process appeals or school transfer requests.

As Chair of the Education Law Section, Patrick Hoover hopes to develop new programs and activities this year to assist BAMC members with networking, learning and sharing information and legal issues and strategies involved in education law from pre-school to graduate school. In the recent BAMC Section meeting last Tuesday, June 26, Pat explained how education law cases “come in all stripes and sizes and frequently involve a wide assortment of legal issues, authorities and solutions.” Pat continued, “It is not an easy field of practice because of the complications involving federal and state law and local regulations. I feel proud to be a part of a new group of BAMC colleagues who can help one another.”

Patrick is also arranging to have a number of speakers come to section meetings to educate interested BAMC members, and hopes to create a database of proven experts that BAMC members may call upon for diagnostic help in education and special education law cases.

Patrick Hoover

For over 30 years I've focused my private law practice (HooverLaw. LLC) on what I call "kidcentric law". I'm licensed in Maryland and Washington, DC representing students and youth confronted with administrative and legal issues in school and the community. I love it!
