The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) recently issued findings affirming MCPS’s long overdue decision to fire its long employed teacher for conduct, which in my opinion, amounts to no less than serial acts of child abuse and significantly inappropriate behaviors with children.

Montgomery College’s recent report on the 2011 graduates of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) reports that more than 25 percent of all graduating seniors from the 27 high schools within the county went on to attend Montgomery College.
Charter schools, an idea intended to promote innovation in education through the power of competition, have naturally held the greatest appeal in places where the local school systems have been the most dysfunctional — i.e. in urban centers with generally low levels of education, concentrated poverty, and high crime rates. But charter schools are not restricted solely to cities.
